dummy downhill (3 of 9)

Last weekend held one of the most entertaining events of the season. Diamond Peak’s Dummy downhill. Imagine Red Bull’s Flugtag minus the people and add a giant ski jump. Groups, including Incline Village kindergarteners and the boys at the rental shop, built dummies on skis and snowboards to launch. They competed for best crash, most creative, and longest jump. The competition was fierce and judging was close. You be the judge from these photos and videos.

The 2013-14 season is coming to end at Sierra-at-Tahoe on April 20th, but there are still some events coming up. This weekends events include the 8th annual Buckle Up Big Air Slopestyle event, the final show in Sierra-at-Tahoe’s FREE Live At Grandview Music Series and the 7th annual Salsa Showdown with a chance to win a season pass. Here’s the breakdown for this weekend.

2014-April skiing with the kids at Rose 074

Spring is beautiful time at Mt. Rose, Nevada. With the highest base elevation of any ski area at Tahoe, the snow stays consistent here longer than anywhere else. Last Sunday was the perfect day to take all my kids skiing; good snow, better weather, and friendly staff at Mt. Rose made for an excellent day to make memories, and to share together the exhilaration of sliding on snow!

Here are some tips to staying healthy during those hard winter months.

  • 5 goggles for 5 different riders
Can I let you in on a secret? I have a goggle fetish. I LOVE goggles and when I'm not on the mountain, it's all about my sunglasses. My eyes are sensitive to light and lets face it protecting your eyes is kind of important. Not everybody is like me. Some people wear glasses so they need OTG (over the glasses) goggles. Some people love technology crammed into their goggles and some people are minimalists. Here are five goggles for five different types of riders.
